Clucktoberfest relies on dedicated volunteers to bring this annual event to life! Whether you are looking to support youth agriculture, gain hands-on experience behind the scenes of an ABA/APA-sanctioned show, or give back to the local poultry community, we have a role for you.
What We Need
We need volunteer support across several key areas leading up to, during, and immediately following show day. Roles accommodate single shift sign-ups or full-day participation:
Set-up & Prep (Friday)
- Coop Assembly Crew: Assist with assembling, placing, and tagging poultry cages inside the Canyon County Fair Building.
- Show Floor Setup: Help arrange tables, signage, judge evaluation rings, and the youth showmanship area.
- Shavings & Bedding Team: Fill coop trays with wood shavings to prepare housing for arriving exhibition birds.
Show Day Operations (Saturday All Day)
- Clerk Assistants: Work directly alongside official ABA/APA judges. Responsibilities include carrying scorecards and recording official placements.
- Welcome Desk & Information: Greet arriving guests, hand out show catalogs, provide venue directions, and answer general public questions.
- Runner & Hospitality Crew: Provide water/refreshments to judges, assist show secretaries with ribbon routing, and manage traffic flow around the evaluation areas.
- Youth & Egg Activity Helpers: Assist organizers during the Youth Showmanship and Egg Judging competitions with registration check-ins and lineup organization.
Teardown & Clean-up (Saturday Afternoon)
- Coop Disassembly: Help disassemble cages, stack coops, and clear the main building floor following bird checkout.
- Floor & Venue Clean-up: Sweep wood shavings, collect venue signage, and prepare the Fair Building floor for venue handover.
